Operations Manager - Milne Swanepoel

 

Milne started his career in the hospitality industry at a very early age. He has a passion for it and has been in the industry for the last 24 years.

He started off as a Pizza Roller at Pannarotties and worked his way up to Management.

 

He also involved in a few Wimpies in Pretoria were he was a General Manager of five stores.

 

He came back to the Cape and started with De La Paix when it was still in the development stage. He has been there at De La Paix ever since.

Head Chef - Llewellyn Solomons

 

Chef Llewellyn , as a young lad that grew up on the Cape flats with heavy Cape Malay influence generated from his parents and grandparents that is strongly seen in his cuisine today.

He left the cape flats and moved to Paarl to pursue his career were the Winelands bug bit him and never looked back.

He has a 11-year track record in the hospitality industry, starting his culinary career at Northlink college and moved on to Newlands cricket caterers for the cricket world cup. Soon after that he found his way to the Winelands. He spent 4yrs at Sante Winelands five star Hotel, 4yrs at Pearl Valley Golf Estates were he did 2 South African Opens and was privates Chef to the MDs of Leisure Corp Dubai World when they receded at Pearl Valley.He then later found himself in the Franschhoek Valley the food capital of South Africa at Holden Manz Wine Estate. He was then appointed Head Chef of De La Paix Restaurant and venues in 2013 were he is currently cooking up a storm.

Restaurant Manager - Angelo Jacobs

 

Angelo has been working in the hospitality industry as a Restaurant Manager for the past sixteen years.

 

Initially he started working as a Waiter, but his drive for Excellent Customer Service, Good Food and Quality Wine Knowledge soon led me to fine establishments like Pontac Manor, Franschoek Inn and Noop Restaurant (Paarl).

As a way of giving back to his community, he developed a waiter course for matriculants to prepare them for their future careers. Angelo belives that there is no greater schooling than working as a waiter, learning about food, wine and delivering exceptional customer service.

 

He was up for the challenge when starting work at De La Paix, but due to his background in Gourmet Food. He has been able to infuse his knowledge and his experience with the family orientated restaurant that De La Paix is so well-known for.

Function Co-ordinator - Liza van de Merwe

 

After matriculating in Swellendag in 2002, Liza worked there for a couple of years.

In 2009 she moved to Cape Town where she started working for 4 Kidz Party Hire.

In 2010 she moved to the Winelands whilst working in Brackenfell.

That is where she got introduced to De La Paix in Aug 2012 when they first opened their doors, in fact her Baby shower was the very first function held at De La Paix.

In March 2013 she made the move to work at De La Paix as their Administration Coordinator.

Although it’s a new challenge for her, this is something that she enjoy's tremendously.
